Bowling

Registration: Includes t-shirts and access to all social events.

Team sports registration and registration for the Dodgeball Showcase and Kickball Remix games have ended. You may still register for a weekend events pass. Learn more about the weekend’s events and register for an events pass.

Format: Two Day Team Tournament with two categories. (1) Handicapped Division and (2) Scratch Division. Additional format details are below:

  • There will be two days of competition, Elimination play (Saturday and Sunday) and Finals play (Sunday) .
  • There will be a Scratch Division and a Handicapped Division play. These will play concurrently but will not bowl against each other.
  • A 3 member team is expected for the scratch division and a 4 member team is expected for the handicap division.
  • If a 3-person team cannot be formed: first, a bowler that doesn’t have a team assignment will be randomly assigned. If a team still has a vacancy (in-lieu of an available bowler), a replacement bowler score will be applied to the team. However, if a full 3-person team cannot be played in the scratch division and an additional player cannot be added, then the missing player score will be an automatic zero for all competition games. Scratch Teams are advised to ensure 3-bowlers are registered.
  • Time permitting, the lanes will be re-oiled between each day's shift play.
  • During elimination competition on each day there will be two bowling shifts.. Saturday Shift hours: 10 AM until 1:30 PM then 2:30 until 6 PM. On Sunday, the first shift will begin at 10:AM and the second shift will begin at 12:00 PM.
  • Sunday play hours, 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
  • Fun games will be offered to those bowlers that do not participate in the Finals competition.

Handicapped Division (4-Person Teams): A player may qualify for Handicap Division play if they can provide proof of established average through league or tournament play. Stonewall league bowlers may obtain documentation of their averages from their local league officials. It does not have to be a Stonewall League to qualify, but must be the most current average. All league bowlers may obtain documentation of their averages from their local league officials. These must be provided by the bowler or by the Team’s captain and certified by the league’s secretary. Only with the Bowling Manager’s prior approval, a bowler may document their most current average by using information stored on Bowl.com. In all cases the most recent bowler averages shall be used. Failure to provide documentation does not disqualify a player from tournament participation, but it will result in an applied handicap of zero. There will not be inter-divisional competition. In the interest of equitable play for all, the Bowling Manager has the authority to adjust a bowler's handicap as may be appropriate.

Bowlers Must Provide:

  • Bowler Name/ID; Latest season's average.
  • Handicap score will be calculated using the following formula:
  • Handicap = (a total of 220 pins - bowler average) X 90%;
  • An example using an assumed average of 150 pins: (220 -150) x 0.9 = 63 pin handicap.

Elimination Structure:

  • Teams advancing to Finals play will be ranked on their scores bowled in the first 4 games played. Three games will be bowled on the first day and a final (4th) game on the second day of elimination competition.
  • The Finals competition will be determined by the sum total of their first 4 games (elimination competition). The team's sum total from the four games will be aggregated from both shifts and will be ranked. One-quarter of the highest scoring teams will advance to Finals play.

Scratch Division, (3-Person Teams): Open to non-USBC sanctioned team or league play only (with or without established averages);

Elimination Structure:

  • Teams advancing to Finals play will be ranked on their scores bowled in the first 4 games played. Three games will be bowled on the first day and a final (4th) game on the second day of elimination competition.

Finals Day Play:

Warm-up: 10 minutes only.

A fourth game will be played by all teams. The first shift will begin at 10:00 AM and the second shift will begin at 12:00 PM. For those teams that advance, Finals play may continue until 3:00PM. One-third of the highest scoring teams from both Divisions (Scratch Division and Handicapped Division play) will advance to Finals play. Both Divisions will bowl concurrently.

Following the fourth game, team scoring totals will be summed for these four games and based upon highest team aggregate scoring totals all teams from each division will be ranked. One-third of the top scoring teams from each Division will advance to the finals competition. Finals competition will consist of a single game. All previous games summation totals will be disregarded. The competition's winner and first runner-up will be based upon the highest team totals for this single game of play. If a tie for points total occurs, the winner and first runner-up will be determined by one frame of additional bowling in a "sudden death" round.
